Bioinformatics Trainer – Roles and Responsibilities (MSc Internship Program)
1. Training and Mentorship
* Design and deliver interactive sessions on key bioinformatics concepts, tools, and databases.
* Provide hands-on training in computational biology, genomics, proteomics, and molecular modeling.
* Guide students through the use of bioinformatics software such as NCBI tools, BLAST, ClustalW, MEGA, PyMOL, and R/Bioconductor.
* Develop and supervise project-based learning modules aligned with MSc curriculum requirements.
* Mentor interns in research methodologies, data analysis, and report preparation.
2. Curriculum and Module Development
* Create structured training modules, practical exercises, and tutorials for different levels of learners.
* Integrate current trends such as AI/ML in bioinformatics, precision medicine, and omics data analysis.
* Update training materials regularly based on advancements in bioinformatics tools and databases.
3. Research Guidance
* Assist interns in selecting and executing research or mini-projects relevant to bioinformatics applications.
* Support data interpretation, literature review, and result validation.
* Encourage publication or poster presentation of student work at conferences or journals.
4. Assessment and Feedback
* Evaluate students’ technical and analytical skills through assignments, tests, and project reports.
* Provide constructive feedback to enhance understanding and research capabilities.
* Maintain progress reports for each intern.
5. Collaboration and Coordination
* Coordinate with academic institutions, supervisors, and industry experts for knowledge exchange.
* Organize guest lectures, webinars, or workshops to enhance student exposure.
* Collaborate with the organization’s R&D team for real-world bioinformatics problem-solving.
6. Technical and Administrative Support
* Ensure proper installation and maintenance of bioinformatics tools and software environments.
* Maintain laboratory records, project documentation, and attendance logs.
* Assist in preparing training reports, certificates, and evaluation summaries.
